Amphiprion clarkii, commonly known as Clark’s Clownfish, is a popular and hardy species for marine aquariums. Our stock is tank-bred (DJM bred) and available in various sizes, making them suitable for both beginner and experienced aquarists.
Clark’s Clownfish are known for their striking colouration and adaptability. They thrive in well-maintained marine tanks with stable water parameters. This species is generally peaceful but can be territorial, especially when paired with other clownfish.
Care and Husbandry
- Temperament: Semi-aggressive; best kept singly or as a mated pair.
- Diet: Omnivorous – accepts a variety of foods including high-quality pellets, flakes, frozen mysis shrimp, and marine algae.
- Minimum Tank Size: 75 litres (20 gallons) recommended to provide adequate swimming space and territory.
- Water Parameters: Maintain temperature between 24-27°C, salinity 1.020-1.025 SG, pH 8.1-8.4.
- Compatibility: Compatible with most peaceful marine fish and invertebrates; avoid housing with overly aggressive species.
- Reef Safety: Yes – safe to keep in reef aquariums.
Placement and Environment
Clark’s Clownfish benefit from the presence of host anemones such as Heteractis magnifica or Entacmaea quadricolor, though they can also thrive without them. Provide plenty of live rock for shelter and territory establishment.
Additional Notes
Being tank-bred, these clownfish are more resilient to aquarium conditions and less likely to introduce parasites compared to wild-caught specimens. Regular water changes and stable water quality will ensure long-term health.
