This medium-sized scorpionfish is native to the Indo-Pacific region and is a popular choice among advanced marine aquarium enthusiasts due to its unique appearance and interesting behaviour.
Care Level: Moderate to advanced care is recommended. The Radiata Lionfish requires stable water parameters and a secure environment to thrive.
Temperament and Compatibility: This species is predatory and may consume smaller tankmates. It is best housed with larger, non-aggressive fish. Avoid keeping with small or slow-moving species to prevent predation.
Diet: Carnivorous diet consisting mainly of live or frozen meaty foods such as shrimp, small fish, and crustaceans. Feeding should be done 2-3 times per week.
Tank Requirements: A minimum tank size of 120 litres (approximately 30 gallons) is recommended to provide adequate swimming space and territory. The aquarium should have plenty of hiding places created with live rock.
Handling Precautions: The Radiata Lionfish has venomous spines capable of delivering painful stings. Handle with extreme care and use appropriate tools when maintenance is required.
