Amphiprion sandaracinos, commonly referred to as the Orange Skunk Clownfish, is a vibrant and peaceful addition to any marine aquarium. This medium-sized clownfish is easily recognised by its bright orange body and a single white stripe running along the dorsal ridge from head to tail.
Care Level: Suitable for intermediate aquarists due to its hardy nature and straightforward care requirements.
Temperament: Generally peaceful and compatible with a variety of tank mates, though it may show territorial behaviour towards other clownfish.
Diet: Omnivorous – feeds well on a varied diet including high-quality marine pellets, frozen mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and finely chopped seafood.
Minimum Tank Size: A minimum of 75 litres (20 gallons) is recommended to provide ample swimming space and territory.
Lighting and Water Flow: Standard reef aquarium lighting and moderate water flow are ideal to mimic natural conditions.
Placement: Amphiprion sandaracinos forms symbiotic relationships with certain anemones such as Heteractis magnifica and Stichodactyla mertensii. If anemones are not present, provide suitable rockwork or coral for shelter.
Origin: Native to the Indo-Pacific region, particularly around Indonesia and the Philippines.
Maximum Size: Typically grows up to 10 cm (4 inches) in length.
This species is considered reef safe with caution, as it may nip at some sessile invertebrates but generally coexists well in reef environments.
