Care Level: Moderate to advanced. This species requires stable water conditions and a suitably large aquarium to thrive.
Temperament: Generally peaceful and shy, the Bluespotted Ribbontail Ray is best kept with non-aggressive tank mates. It may bury itself in the substrate and prefers a calm environment.
Diet: Carnivorous. Feed a varied diet including live or frozen meaty foods such as shrimp, squid, and small fish. Regular feeding is essential to maintain health.
Minimum Tank Size: At least 300 litres (approximately 80 gallons) is recommended to provide ample swimming space and substrate for burrowing.
Lighting Requirements: Standard marine aquarium lighting is sufficient. Avoid excessively bright lighting to reduce stress.
Water Flow: Moderate water flow is ideal to mimic natural reef conditions without causing excessive disturbance.
Placement: Provide a sandy substrate for burrowing and open swimming areas. Include hiding spots such as caves or overhangs to allow the ray to feel secure.
