Pterocaesio pisang, known as the Pisang Fusilier, is a striking snapper species prized for its schooling behaviour and vivid coloration. This extra large specimen is suitable for experienced marine aquarists with spacious tanks.
Care Level: Moderate to advanced care is recommended due to their active nature and schooling requirements.
Temperament: Generally peaceful but active; best kept in groups to mimic natural schooling behaviour. They can coexist with other non-aggressive fish but may become stressed if kept singly.
Diet: Omnivorous; feeds on plankton, small crustaceans, and prepared marine diets. Offer a varied diet including high-quality frozen and live foods to maintain health.
Minimum Tank Size: A minimum of 500 litres (approximately 110 gallons) is advised to provide ample swimming space and accommodate a small school.
Lighting Requirements: Standard marine aquarium lighting is sufficient; no special lighting needs.
Water Flow: Moderate to strong water movement replicates their natural reef environment and supports their active swimming.
Placement: Mid to upper water column; ensure open swimming areas with some shelter provided by live rock formations.
