Genicanthus bellus, commonly known as the Bellus Angelfish, is a visually stunning marine species prized for its peaceful nature and unique colouration. The male displays vibrant patterns that make it a standout specimen in any mature marine aquarium.

Temperament and Compatibility: This species is generally peaceful and can coexist well with other non-aggressive fish. It is suitable for reef tanks, though care should be taken when housing with very small or slow-moving tank mates.

Diet: Genicanthus bellus is omnivorous and thrives on a varied diet including high-quality marine angelfish preparations, frozen mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and marine algae. Regular feeding 2-3 times daily is recommended to maintain optimal health.

Tank Requirements: A minimum tank size of 180 litres (approximately 50 gallons) is advised to provide ample swimming space and reduce territorial behaviour. Stable water parameters and excellent filtration are essential for this species.

Reef Compatibility: This angelfish is considered reef safe with caution, as it may nip at certain sessile invertebrates or coral polyps, especially if underfed.

Care Level: Moderate. Suitable for aquarists with some experience in marine fish husbandry.

Additional Notes: Ensure the aquarium is well-established with plenty of live rock for grazing and hiding. Regular water changes and monitoring of water quality will support the health and longevity of this species.
