Genicanthus bellus, commonly known as the Bellus Angelfish, is a beautifully patterned marine fish prized for its peaceful nature and striking appearance. This listing offers a pair in various sizes, perfect for hobbyists seeking to add a calm and colourful presence to their marine aquarium.
Temperament and Compatibility: Genicanthus bellus is known for its peaceful temperament, making it suitable for community reef tanks. It generally coexists well with other non-aggressive fish species but should not be housed with overly aggressive tankmates.
Diet: This species is omnivorous and thrives on a varied diet including high-quality marine angelfish pellets, frozen mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and marine algae. Regular feeding 2-3 times daily is recommended to maintain optimal health.
Tank Requirements: A minimum tank size of 180 litres (approximately 50 gallons) is advised to provide ample swimming space. The aquarium should be well-established with stable water parameters and plenty of live rock for grazing and shelter.
Water Conditions: Maintain temperature between 24-27°C, pH 8.1-8.4, and specific gravity 1.020-1.025. Moderate water flow is preferred to mimic natural reef environments.
Reef Compatibility: Genicanthus bellus is considered reef safe with caution, as it may nip at certain sessile invertebrates or coral polyps, though this behaviour is uncommon.
Additional Notes: When introducing a pair, it is best to add them simultaneously to reduce territorial disputes. Regular observation during acclimation is recommended.
