The Entacmaea quadricolor, commonly known as the Bubble Tip Anemone, is a popular choice for marine aquarium enthusiasts seeking vibrant colour and dynamic movement. This medium-sized Red-Green variant displays a captivating blend of hues, making it a standout addition to any reef setup.
Care and Husbandry: This anemone requires a well-established marine aquarium with stable water parameters. Moderate to strong lighting, such as T5 or LED reef lighting, is essential to support its symbiotic zooxanthellae algae. Moderate water flow is recommended to gently move the tentacles without causing damage.
Placement should be on a stable rock or substrate where the anemone can attach securely. It may move initially as it finds a suitable spot. Feeding is not always necessary if lighting is sufficient, but occasional supplementation with meaty foods like mysis shrimp or finely chopped seafood can promote health and growth.
Compatibility: Entacmaea quadricolor is generally reef safe with caution, as it can sting neighbouring corals and invertebrates. It is famously compatible with clownfish species, which often form a mutualistic relationship with the anemone.
Additional Notes: This species can reach a maximum size of approximately 30 cm in diameter under optimal conditions. A minimum tank size of 75 litres is recommended to provide adequate space and water quality stability.
