Cirrhilabrus naokoae (male) is a captivating wrasse species known for its vivid colours and active behaviour, making it a prized choice for marine aquarium enthusiasts. Originating from the Western Pacific, this species displays a peaceful temperament and is generally compatible with other non-aggressive tank mates.
These wrasses thrive in well-established reef tanks with plenty of live rock for hiding and foraging. They require a minimum tank size of 120 litres (approximately 30 gallons) to provide ample swimming space and reduce territorial disputes. A secure lid is essential as they are known jumpers.
Diet should be varied and carnivorous, including high-quality frozen or live foods such as mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and specialised pellet or flake foods formulated for wrasses. Feeding multiple times daily in small amounts helps maintain optimal health.
Water parameters should be stable, with temperatures between 24-27°C, salinity at 1.023-1.025 specific gravity, and pH around 8.1-8.4. Moderate water flow and lighting suitable for reef environments are recommended to mimic their natural habitat.
Due to their peaceful nature, Cirrhilabrus naokoae males are best kept with similarly non-aggressive species. Avoid housing with large predatory fish or overly aggressive tank mates. They are reef safe, posing no threat to corals or invertebrates.
