Amblygobius buanensis, commonly known as the Buan’s Goby, is a peaceful and hardy species well-suited for marine aquarium enthusiasts seeking a tank-bred specimen. Available in various sizes, these gobies adapt well to captive conditions and contribute to the natural behaviour and aesthetics of your aquarium.
Temperament and Compatibility: This species is generally peaceful and compatible with a wide range of community fish. It is best kept with other non-aggressive tank mates. Avoid housing with overly territorial or aggressive species to ensure harmony.
Diet: Amblygobius buanensis is omnivorous. In captivity, provide a varied diet including high-quality frozen or live foods such as mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and finely chopped seafood, supplemented with marine flake or pellet foods to ensure balanced nutrition.
Tank Requirements: A minimum tank size of 75 litres (approximately 20 gallons) is recommended to provide ample swimming space and territory. The aquarium should have a sandy substrate to allow natural burrowing and sifting behaviour, along with plenty of live rock for shelter and grazing.
Water Parameters: Maintain stable marine conditions with temperature between 24-27°C, salinity at 1.023-1.025 SG, pH 8.1-8.4, and moderate water flow. Regular water changes and good filtration are essential for optimal health.
Reef Compatibility: This species is considered reef safe and can be kept in reef aquariums without risk to corals or invertebrates, provided it is well-fed and not stressed.
Choose tank-bred specimens to support sustainable aquarium practices and enjoy healthier, more acclimatised fish.
