Overview: Pentapodus emeryii is a small species of snapper prized for its elegant form and subtle colouration. This fish is suitable for experienced hobbyists who can provide a spacious marine aquarium with stable water conditions.
Temperament and Compatibility: Generally peaceful, Pentapodus emeryii can be kept with other non-aggressive fish species. It may show mild territorial behaviour but is not considered aggressive. Avoid housing with very small or timid species to prevent stress.
Diet: This snapper is carnivorous and thrives on a varied diet including high-quality frozen or live meaty foods such as mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and finely chopped seafood. Regular feeding 1-2 times daily is recommended.
Tank Requirements: A minimum tank size of 150 litres is advised to provide sufficient swimming space. Maintain stable marine water parameters with a temperature range of 24-27°C, salinity of 1.020-1.025 SG, and pH between 8.1 and 8.4.
Reef Compatibility: Reef safe with caution. While generally compatible with corals, Pentapodus emeryii may prey on small invertebrates or crustaceans, so care should be taken when housing with delicate reef inhabitants.
Care Level: Moderate. Requires stable water quality and a balanced diet to thrive.
