Rainford’s Goby (Koumansetta rainfordi) is a charming and peaceful goby species, popular among marine aquarium enthusiasts for its distinctive markings and bottom-dwelling habits. This tank-bred specimen is available in various sizes, making it suitable for a range of aquarium setups.
Temperament and Compatibility: Rainford’s Goby is known for its calm and non-aggressive nature, making it compatible with most peaceful community fish and invertebrates. It is reef safe and will not harm corals or sessile invertebrates.
Diet: This species thrives on a varied diet including high-quality frozen or live foods such as brine shrimp, mysis shrimp, and finely chopped seafood. Supplement with quality marine flakes or pellets to ensure balanced nutrition.
Tank Requirements: A minimum tank size of 75 litres (20 gallons) is recommended to provide ample space for natural behaviour. The aquarium should have a sandy substrate to allow natural burrowing and hiding. Provide plenty of live rock for shelter and grazing.
Water Parameters: Maintain stable marine conditions with temperature between 24-27°C, salinity at 1.023-1.025 SG, pH 8.1-8.4, and moderate water flow. Regular water changes and good filtration are essential for optimal health.
Origin: Tank-bred in controlled aquaculture facilities, ensuring healthier specimens and reduced impact on wild populations.
