Elacatinus oceanops, commonly referred to as the Neon Goby, is a popular choice for marine aquarium enthusiasts seeking a peaceful and visually striking fish. This species is tank-bred, ensuring hardiness and adaptability to captive conditions.
Appearance and Size: The Neon Goby displays a slender body with a striking iridescent blue stripe running from the snout to the tail, contrasting against a dark body. Available in various sizes, adults typically reach up to 5 cm (2 inches) in length.
Temperament and Compatibility: Known for its peaceful nature, Elacatinus oceanops coexists well with other non-aggressive fish and invertebrates. It is an excellent addition to community reef tanks.
Diet: This goby thrives on a varied diet including frozen mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and high-quality marine flakes or pellets. Supplementing with live foods can encourage natural foraging behaviour.
