Lysmata amboinensis, commonly known as the Cleaner Shrimp, is a popular and visually striking addition to marine aquariums. This Extra Large specimen offers enhanced display appeal with its vivid red and white banded body and long white antennae.
Known for its symbiotic cleaning behaviour, Lysmata amboinensis actively removes parasites and dead tissue from fish, making it a beneficial inhabitant in reef tanks. It is generally peaceful and reef safe, compatible with a wide range of tank mates including fish, corals, and other invertebrates.
Care Requirements: This species thrives in well-established marine aquariums with stable water parameters. Maintain temperature between 24-27°C, salinity at 1.023-1.025 SG, and pH 8.1-8.4. Moderate water flow and good filtration are recommended to ensure water quality.
Feed a varied diet including meaty foods such as brine shrimp, mysis shrimp, and specialised invertebrate pellets. Lysmata amboinensis may also scavenge detritus and leftover food.
Compatibility: Peaceful and reef safe, it coexists well with most fish and invertebrates. Avoid housing with aggressive predatory fish that may view it as prey.
Tank Size: A minimum tank size of 60 litres is recommended to provide adequate space and stable conditions.
