Care Level: Moderate to advanced. This species requires stable water conditions and a well-established aquarium.
Temperament: Semi-aggressive. It can be territorial, especially towards other angelfish or similar-shaped species.
Diet: Omnivorous. Feed a varied diet including high-quality marine angelfish pellets, frozen mysis shrimp, spirulina, and marine algae to ensure optimal health and vibrant colouration.
Minimum Tank Size: 250 litres (approximately 65 gallons). A large, mature tank with plenty of swimming space and hiding places is essential.
Reef Safety: With Caution. While generally safe with mature corals, Emperor Angelfish may nip at sessile invertebrates and soft corals, so careful monitoring is advised.
Lighting Requirements: Standard marine aquarium lighting is sufficient. Avoid overly intense lighting to reduce stress.
Water Flow: Moderate water movement mimicking natural reef environments is ideal.
