Overview: The Coris gaimard, commonly known as the Yellowtail Coris, is a visually stunning wrasse native to the Indo-Pacific region. This XXL specimen is a mature individual, showcasing the species’ characteristic vibrant colours and active swimming behaviour.
Temperament and Compatibility: Generally peaceful but can be territorial towards conspecifics or similar wrasses. Best kept singly or in a large tank with ample hiding spaces. Compatible with most non-aggressive fish species but caution is advised with smaller, timid tankmates.
Diet: Carnivorous; thrives on a varied diet including meaty foods such as mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, chopped seafood, and high-quality marine pellets. Feeding multiple times daily in smaller portions is recommended to maintain health.
Tank Requirements: Due to its size and active nature, a minimum tank size of 250 litres is advised. Provide plenty of live rock for hiding and foraging. A secure lid is essential as wrasses are known jumpers.
Water Parameters: Maintain stable marine conditions with temperature between 24-27°C, salinity 1.023-1.025, pH 8.1-8.4, and moderate water flow.
Reef Compatibility: With Caution. May prey on small invertebrates; not recommended for delicate reef setups.
Additional Notes: This XXL specimen is ideal for advanced aquarists who can provide the space and care required for this impressive wrasse.
