Temperament and Compatibility: This species is moderately territorial and can be aggressive towards smaller or more passive tankmates. It is best kept with similarly sized or larger fish to reduce stress and aggression. Suitable tankmates include other robust wrasses and semi-aggressive species. Exercise caution when housing with invertebrates, as wrasses may prey on small crustaceans.

Diet: Thalassoma jansenii is carnivorous and thrives on a varied diet of meaty foods such as mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, finely chopped seafood, and high-quality marine pellets or flakes formulated for carnivorous fish. Feeding multiple times daily in small portions is recommended to maintain optimal health.

Tank Requirements: A minimum tank size of 120 litres is advised to provide ample swimming space and reduce territorial disputes. The aquarium should feature plenty of live rock for hiding and foraging, as well as open swimming areas. Stable water parameters and excellent water quality are essential for this species.

Reef Compatibility: With caution. While generally reef safe, Thalassoma jansenii may nip at small invertebrates or corals, so careful monitoring is necessary if housed in reef setups.
