Synchiropus ocellatus is a striking species of dragonet prized for its vibrant colours and unique behaviour. This species is best suited to experienced marine aquarists due to its specialised dietary needs and care requirements.
Care Level: Moderate to advanced care is recommended. Synchiropus ocellatus requires a well-established aquarium with plenty of live rock to support its natural foraging behaviour.
Temperament: Generally peaceful but can be territorial towards conspecifics or similar species. Best kept singly or as a mated pair in larger tanks.
Diet: Carnivorous. Primarily feeds on small live or frozen meaty foods such as copepods, amphipods, and other microfauna. Regular feeding with specialised diets is essential to maintain health.
Minimum Tank Size: A minimum of 75 litres (20 gallons) is recommended to provide adequate space and stable water conditions.
Lighting and Water Flow: Moderate lighting and gentle to moderate water flow mimic its natural reef environment, supporting both fish health and live rock microfauna.

Reef Safety: Yes, Synchiropus ocellatus is reef safe and will not harm corals or invertebrates.
Origin: Not Provided.
Maximum Size: Approximately 6 cm (2.4 inches).
Due to its specialised care requirements, Synchiropus ocellatus is recommended for marine aquarists with experience in maintaining stable reef systems and providing live or frozen microfauna diets.
