Synchiropus moyeri is an exquisite dragonet species known for its striking patterns and vibrant colours, making it a sought-after addition to marine aquariums. Native to the Indo-Pacific region, this species thrives in well-established reef tanks with plenty of live rock to provide natural foraging opportunities and shelter.
Dragonets like Synchiropus moyeri are peaceful but can be shy, so they are best kept with non-aggressive tank mates. They require a mature aquarium with stable water parameters and a minimum tank size of 75 litres to ensure sufficient space for foraging and territory.
Diet should primarily consist of live or frozen meaty foods such as copepods, amphipods, and mysis shrimp. Supplementing with high-quality prepared foods can help maintain health, but live food availability is crucial, especially during acclimation.
Regular water changes and maintaining pristine water quality are essential to prevent stress and disease. Providing a sandy substrate with ample live rock encourages natural behaviour and feeding.
