The Yasha Goby (Stonogobiops yasha) is a visually captivating marine fish prized by aquarists for its striking orange and white banding and peaceful temperament. This species is tank-bred, ensuring hardiness and a reduced impact on wild populations.
Care and Compatibility: The Yasha Goby is peaceful and reef safe, making it an excellent addition to community reef tanks. It often forms a symbiotic relationship with pistol shrimps, so providing live sand and suitable burrowing substrate encourages natural behaviour.
Diet: This goby thrives on a varied diet of frozen or live meaty foods such as brine shrimp, mysis shrimp, and finely chopped seafood. Regular feeding two to three times daily supports optimal health.
Tank Requirements: A minimum tank size of 30 gallons (approximately 114 litres) is recommended to provide sufficient space and stable water parameters. Moderate lighting and gentle to moderate water flow replicate its natural habitat.
Placement: Position the Yasha Goby in areas with sandy substrate and rockwork that offers crevices and hiding spots. This encourages natural burrowing and sheltering behaviours.
