The Siganus puellus, or Foxface Rabbitfish, is a visually captivating marine fish prized for its vibrant yellow and black markings and peaceful temperament. This large variant is well-suited to experienced hobbyists with spacious marine aquariums.
Temperament and Compatibility: Generally peaceful, the Foxface Rabbitfish coexists well with other non-aggressive species. It can be kept in reef aquariums with caution due to its occasional grazing on soft corals and polyps. Avoid housing with highly aggressive tankmates.
Diet: Primarily herbivorous, Siganus puellus thrives on a varied diet rich in marine algae, seaweed sheets, and vegetable-based pellets. Supplement with occasional meaty foods to ensure balanced nutrition.
Tank Requirements: A minimum tank size of 200 litres is recommended to accommodate its active swimming behaviour and territorial needs. Provide ample live rock for grazing and hiding spots.
Care Level: Moderate. Requires stable water parameters and a well-established aquarium with good water quality.
Additional Notes: When threatened, the Foxface Rabbitfish displays venomous spines as a defence mechanism, so handle with care during maintenance.
