Care Level: Advanced. The Cobia requires a very large tank with excellent water quality and strong filtration due to its size and activity.

Temperament and Compatibility: This species is generally semi-aggressive and predatory. It is best kept with similarly sized or larger robust fish. Smaller tank mates may be at risk. Compatibility with reef invertebrates is low, so it is not considered reef safe.

Diet: Carnivorous. Feed a varied diet of meaty foods such as chopped fish, squid, crustaceans, and specialised marine pellets to ensure optimal health.

Tank Requirements: Minimum tank size is 1000 litres to accommodate its active swimming behaviour and potential adult size. Provide open swimming areas with some hiding spots. Maintain stable water parameters with moderate to strong water flow and lighting suitable for a fish-only or fish-dominant system.

Maximum Size: Can grow up to 1.8 metres in the wild, but typically smaller in captivity. Expect a large adult size requiring substantial aquarium space.
