Pectinia spp. (Green Center) is a captivating large polyp stony (LPS) coral known for its distinctive green centre and textured, plate-like growth form. This tank-bred frag is cultured under controlled conditions, ensuring healthier specimens and sustainable reefkeeping.
Lighting: Moderate lighting is recommended, such as LED or T5 fixtures providing a PAR range of approximately 50-150 µmol/m²/s. Avoid intense direct light to prevent bleaching.
Water Flow: Moderate, indirect water flow is ideal to keep the coral’s delicate polyps gently moving without causing tissue damage.
Placement: Position the frag on a stable rock or substrate in the lower to middle regions of the aquarium. Ensure adequate spacing from neighbouring corals to prevent aggressive interactions, as Pectinia spp. can extend sweeper tentacles.
Care Level: Suitable for aquarists with some experience in LPS coral husbandry. Maintain stable water parameters with regular testing and water changes.
Compatibility: Reef safe with adequate spacing from other corals and invertebrates. Avoid placing near aggressive coral species.
Feeding: While Pectinia spp. derives much of its nutrition from photosynthesis via symbiotic zooxanthellae, supplemental feeding with small meaty foods such as mysis shrimp or specialised coral foods can promote growth and vibrancy.
Water Parameters: Maintain temperature between 24-26°C, salinity at 1.023-1.025 SG, pH 8.1-8.4, and stable alkalinity and calcium levels suitable for LPS corals.
This frag is a cultured specimen grown by DJM, supporting sustainable marine aquarium practices.
