The Bubble Tip Anemone (Entacmaea quadricolor) is one of the most sought-after anemones for marine aquariums due to its striking appearance and symbiotic relationship with clownfish. This Extra Large specimen offers a spectacular display with its bulbous tentacle tips and vibrant colours, ranging from green and red to brown and pink hues.
Care Level: Moderate to advanced. This species requires stable water parameters and attentive husbandry.
Feeding: While Bubble Tip Anemones derive much of their nutrition from photosynthetic zooxanthellae, they benefit from supplemental feeding. Offer meaty foods such as mysis shrimp, finely chopped seafood, or specialised anemone foods 1-2 times per week to promote health and growth.
Compatibility and Reef Safety: Entacmaea quadricolor is generally reef safe but should be considered with caution. It may sting nearby corals and invertebrates, so provide adequate space to prevent damage. It is compatible with clownfish species, which often form symbiotic relationships with this anemone.
Lighting and Water Flow: Requires moderate to high lighting to support its photosynthetic symbionts. LED or T5 lighting systems are suitable. Moderate water flow is ideal to keep the tentacles gently moving without causing stress.
Placement: Position the anemone on a stable rock or substrate where it can attach securely. It may move around the tank initially but will settle in a location with optimal lighting and flow.
Tank Requirements: A minimum tank size of 75 litres (20 gallons) is recommended to accommodate its size and movement.
Origin: Not Provided.
Maximum Size: Up to 30 cm in diameter.
