The Green Bubble Tip Anemone (Entacmaea quadricolor) is a stunning and popular choice for marine aquarium enthusiasts. Known for its vibrant green tentacles and distinctive bubble tips, this medium-sized specimen adds both colour and movement to reef tanks.
Care Level: Moderate to advanced. This species requires stable water parameters and appropriate lighting to thrive.
Feeding: While Entacmaea quadricolor can derive nutrition from photosynthesis via its symbiotic zooxanthellae, supplemental feeding is recommended. Offer meaty foods such as mysis shrimp, finely chopped seafood, or specialised anemone pellets 1-2 times per week to maintain optimal health.
Compatibility and Reef Safety: Generally reef safe with caution. This anemone may host clownfish, which can form a symbiotic relationship. However, it can sting nearby corals and invertebrates, so provide adequate space to prevent damage.
Lighting and Water Flow: Requires moderate to high lighting to support its photosynthetic needs. Moderate water flow is ideal—too strong a current can cause stress, while too little may reduce health.
Placement: Position on rockwork with a secure base, allowing the anemone to attach firmly. Ensure it has room to expand and move slightly without contacting other corals.
Tank Size: A minimum of 75 litres (20 gallons) is recommended to provide stable water conditions and sufficient space.
With proper care, the Green Bubble Tip Anemone can be a captivating and rewarding addition to a mature reef aquarium.
