The Sunburst-Rainbow Bubble Tip Anemone (Entacmaea quadricolor) is a stunning and popular choice for marine aquariums, prized for its vibrant colouration and captivating tentacle movement. This extra large specimen offers a dramatic focal point in mature reef tanks.
Care Level: Moderate to advanced. This species requires stable water conditions and attentive husbandry to thrive.
Feeding: While capable of deriving nutrition from photosynthesis via symbiotic zooxanthellae, regular supplemental feeding with meaty foods such as mysis shrimp, chopped seafood, or specialised anemone pellets is recommended to maintain optimal health.
Compatibility & Reef Safety: Generally reef safe with caution. The anemone’s stinging tentacles can harm nearby corals and small invertebrates if placed too close. It is compatible with certain clownfish species, which may host within its tentacles.
Tank Requirements: A minimum tank size of 120 litres (approximately 30 gallons) is advised to provide sufficient space and stable water parameters. Lighting should be moderate to high intensity to support photosynthesis, ideally using LED or T5 lighting systems. Moderate water flow is preferred to gently circulate water without causing excessive stress or tentacle damage.
Placement: Position the anemone on a stable rock base with enough room to expand fully. Avoid placing near aggressive corals or delicate species that may be stung.
Origin: Not Provided.
Maximum Size: Up to 30 cm in diameter under optimal conditions.
