Ecsenius nalolo is a small, peaceful blenny species prized for its algae-grazing behaviour and suitability for reef and marine aquariums. Originating from tropical marine environments, this species is an excellent addition to tanks aiming to maintain natural algae control.
Temperament and Compatibility: Ecsenius nalolo is generally peaceful and non-aggressive, making it compatible with a wide range of community fish and invertebrates. It is best kept singly or in pairs in larger tanks to avoid territorial disputes.
Diet: Primarily herbivorous, this blenny thrives on a diet rich in algae and vegetable matter. Supplement with high-quality marine algae sheets, spirulina, and specialised herbivore pellets to ensure balanced nutrition.
Tank Requirements: A minimum tank size of 75 litres (approximately 20 gallons) is recommended to provide sufficient swimming space and territories. The aquarium should be well-established with live rock to encourage natural grazing behaviour.
Water Parameters and Environment: Maintain stable marine conditions with a temperature range of 24-27°C, salinity of 1.023-1.025 SG, and pH between 8.1 and 8.4. Moderate water flow and lighting are suitable, replicating natural reef environments.
Placement: Provide plenty of live rock with crevices and hiding spots to mimic natural habitat and reduce stress.
