Distichopora violacea, commonly known as the Stylaster coral, is a captivating non-scleractinian large polyp stony (LPS) coral prized for its bright orange colouration and intricate branching structure. This medium-sized specimen is an excellent addition to mature reef aquariums, offering a unique aesthetic beyond traditional stony corals.

Lighting Requirements: Moderate lighting is recommended to maintain vibrant pigmentation without causing stress. LED or T5 lighting systems with adjustable intensity work well.

Water Flow: Moderate, indirect water flow is ideal to ensure adequate nutrient delivery while preventing tissue damage from strong currents.

Placement: Position the coral on stable rockwork with enough space to avoid contact with neighbouring corals, as Stylaster corals can be sensitive to aggressive species. Mid to lower levels of the tank are preferred.
