The Scott’s Fairy Wrasse (Cirrhilabrus scottorum) is a stunningly colourful wrasse native to the Western Pacific Ocean. This small-sized species typically reaches up to 7cm in length, making it suitable for medium to large marine aquariums.
Known for its peaceful temperament, the Scott’s Fairy Wrasse is reef safe and compatible with a variety of other peaceful fish species. It thrives in well-established reef tanks with plenty of live rock for hiding and foraging.
Care Level: Moderate – requires stable water parameters and a well-maintained environment.
Diet: Carnivorous – feeds on a variety of meaty foods including mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and high-quality frozen or live preparations.
Tank Requirements: A minimum tank size of 75 litres (approximately 20 gallons) is recommended to provide ample swimming space and reduce territorial behaviour.
Lighting & Water Flow: Moderate lighting and gentle to moderate water flow mimic their natural reef habitat.
Scott’s Fairy Wrasse is a lively addition to reef aquariums, appreciated for its vibrant colours and active swimming patterns. It is advisable to keep them in groups or pairs to encourage natural behaviour, but ensure sufficient space to prevent aggression.
