Chrysiptera taupou is a popular damselfish species prized for its vivid colours and lively behaviour. This species is suitable for marine aquarium enthusiasts seeking an active and visually appealing fish.
Temperament and Compatibility: Chrysiptera taupou is moderately territorial and can be aggressive towards conspecifics or similar species, especially in smaller tanks. It is best kept singly or as a mated pair in community tanks with other semi-aggressive or robust species. Avoid housing with very peaceful or slow-moving fish to prevent stress.
Diet: This damselfish is omnivorous and adapts well to a varied diet. Provide a mix of high-quality marine flakes, pellets, frozen mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and finely chopped seafood to ensure optimal health and vibrant colouration.
Tank Requirements: A minimum tank size of 75 litres (20 gallons) is recommended to provide sufficient swimming space and reduce territorial aggression. Provide plenty of live rock for hiding places and territory establishment.
Water Parameters: Maintain stable marine conditions with temperature between 24-27°C, salinity at 1.023-1.025 SG, pH 8.1-8.4, and moderate water flow.
Reef Compatibility: With caution. While Chrysiptera taupou may coexist in some reef setups, it can nip at corals or invertebrates, so monitor behaviour closely.
