Care Level: Moderate to advanced. This species requires stable water parameters and a mature aquarium environment.
Temperament: Generally peaceful but can be territorial towards conspecifics or similar butterflyfish species. Best kept singly or as a mated pair in a spacious tank.
Diet: Omnivorous. Requires a varied diet including high-quality marine flakes, pellets, frozen mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and occasional live foods. Supplement with algae-based foods to mimic natural grazing behaviour.
Minimum Tank Size: 150 litres (40 US gallons) or larger to provide adequate swimming space and territory.
Reef Compatibility: With Caution. May nip at coral polyps and sessile invertebrates; not recommended for delicate reef setups.
Lighting & Water Flow: Standard marine aquarium lighting and moderate water flow are suitable. Provide plenty of hiding places and live rock for grazing and shelter.
