Temperament: Semi-aggressive. It can be territorial and may nip at smaller or slow-moving tankmates. Caution is advised when selecting companions.
Diet: Carnivorous. Feed a varied diet including hard-shelled foods such as molluscs, crustaceans, and specialised frozen or prepared puffer diets to maintain beak health.
Minimum Tank Size: 250 litres (approximately 65 gallons) to provide ample swimming space and reduce territorial behaviour.
Reef Safe: With Caution. May nip at corals and invertebrates; not recommended for sensitive reef setups.
Lighting & Water Flow: Standard marine aquarium lighting and moderate water flow are suitable.
Placement: Provide plenty of hiding spots with live rock formations and open swimming areas. Ensure a secure lid as puffers are known jumpers.
