The Sebae Clownfish (Amphiprion sebae) is a visually captivating species prized for its distinctive black body with three broad white bars and a bright orange face. This tank-bred variety ensures healthier specimens with reduced impact on wild populations, making it an ethical choice for marine aquarium enthusiasts.
Temperament and Compatibility: Sebae Clownfish are generally peaceful but can become territorial, especially when paired with anemones or during breeding. They coexist well with other peaceful fish species but should be housed with caution alongside other clownfish to avoid aggression.
Diet: Omnivorous by nature, they thrive on a varied diet including high-quality marine pellets, frozen mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and finely chopped seafood. Regular feeding 1-2 times daily supports optimal health.
Tank Requirements: A minimum tank size of 75 litres (approximately 20 gallons) is recommended to provide ample swimming space and territory. Stable water parameters with temperatures between 24-27°C, salinity of 1.023-1.025 SG, and pH 8.1-8.4 are ideal.
Lighting and Water Flow: Standard marine aquarium lighting suffices, with moderate water flow preferred to mimic natural reef conditions without stressing the fish.
Placement: Suitable for reef tanks and can be kept with host anemones such as Heteractis magnifica or Stichodactyla gigantea, though care should be taken to ensure compatibility and adequate space.
Origin: Tank-bred specimens, originally native to the western Indian Ocean.
Maximum Size: Typically grows up to 12 cm (4.7 inches) in length.
