Amphiprion polymnus, commonly known as the Saddleback Clownfish, is a captivating addition to any marine aquarium. This tank-bred specimen ensures healthier, more adaptable fish with reduced impact on wild populations.
Temperament and Compatibility: Generally peaceful, the Saddleback Clownfish can be territorial, especially when paired with anemones or other clownfish species. It is best kept singly or as a mated pair in community tanks with compatible species.
Diet: Omnivorous by nature, this clownfish thrives on a varied diet including high-quality marine pellets, frozen mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and finely chopped seafood. Regular feeding 1-2 times daily supports optimal health.
Tank Requirements: A minimum tank size of 75 litres (20 gallons) is recommended to provide ample swimming space and territory. Stable water parameters with temperature between 24-27°C, salinity at 1.023-1.025 SG, and pH 8.1-8.4 are ideal.
Reef Compatibility: This species is considered reef safe with caution, as it may occasionally nip at soft corals or clam mantles. Careful observation is advised when introducing to reef setups.
Placement: Providing live rock and potential host anemones such as Heteractis crispa or Stichodactyla haddoni encourages natural behaviours and enhances display.
Origin: Tank-bred in controlled aquaculture facilities, ensuring disease-free and environmentally responsible specimens.
