Amphiprion frenatus, commonly called the Tomato Clownfish, is a popular choice among marine aquarium enthusiasts due to its vibrant red-orange coloration and relatively peaceful temperament. This large variant is a robust addition to a reef or fish-only marine tank.
Temperament and Compatibility: Generally peaceful, Amphiprion frenatus can be territorial towards conspecifics or similar clownfish species but coexists well with a variety of other reef-safe fish. It is suitable for community reef tanks when introduced carefully.
Diet: Omnivorous by nature, this clownfish thrives on a varied diet including high-quality marine pellets, flakes, frozen mysis shrimp, and finely chopped seafood. Regular feeding 1-2 times daily is recommended.
Tank Requirements: A minimum tank size of 75 litres (approximately 20 gallons) is advised to provide ample swimming space and reduce territorial aggression. Stable water parameters and good filtration are essential.
Reef Safety: This species is considered reef safe and can be kept with corals and invertebrates without risk of harm.
Care Level: Suitable for intermediate aquarists with some experience in marine fish care.
Additional Notes: Providing an anemone is optional but can enhance natural behaviours. If kept without anemones, ensure plenty of hiding places and rockwork.
