Acropora spp. (Maricultured) Ultra Medium is a premium small polyp stony (SPS) coral highly prized for its vibrant colours and intricate branching structure. Maricultured in controlled environments, these corals offer sustainable and healthy additions to mature reef aquariums.
Lighting Requirements: Acropora spp. require intense lighting, ideally provided by high-quality LED, T5, or metal halide systems to support their photosynthetic zooxanthellae. Aim for PAR levels between 250-400 µmol/m²/s.
Water Flow: Strong, turbulent water movement is essential to prevent detritus settling and to promote optimal gas exchange and nutrient delivery. Use multiple powerheads or wavemakers to create randomised flow patterns.
Placement: Position this coral in the upper to middle regions of the tank where lighting and flow are strongest. Ensure adequate spacing from neighbouring corals to reduce aggression and prevent tissue damage.
Care Level: This coral is suited to advanced hobbyists with stable, mature reef systems. Maintain pristine water quality with stable parameters: temperature 24-26°C, salinity 1.025-1.026 SG, alkalinity 8-12 dKH, calcium 400-450 ppm, and magnesium 1250-1350 ppm.
Compatibility: Reef safe with adequate spacing. Avoid placing near aggressive corals that may engage in chemical warfare or overgrowth.
Feeding: While primarily photosynthetic, Acropora spp. benefit from supplemental feeding of fine particulate foods such as phytoplankton, zooplankton, or specialised coral foods to enhance growth and colouration.
Origin: Maricultured in controlled aquaculture facilities, ensuring sustainable sourcing and reduced impact on wild populations.
Size: Medium-sized frag, suitable for display and propagation in home reef tanks.
