Caulastrea curvata (Green) Ultra Frag is a striking large polyp stony (LPS) coral prized for its vivid green polyps and unique curved skeletal structure. This tank-bred frag is cultivated under controlled conditions to ensure robust health and vibrant colouration, making it an excellent addition to reef aquariums.
Lighting: Moderate lighting is recommended, such as T5 fluorescents or LED systems with moderate PAR levels. Avoid intense direct light to prevent bleaching.
Water Flow: Provide moderate, indirect water flow to keep the coral healthy and encourage polyp extension without causing tissue damage.
Placement: Position the frag on stable rockwork in the middle to lower areas of the tank. Ensure adequate spacing from neighbouring corals to prevent aggression and allow for growth.
Care Level: Suitable for intermediate hobbyists with some experience in LPS coral husbandry.
Reef Compatibility: Yes, with adequate spacing. Caulastrea curvata can coexist peacefully with most reef-safe species but may extend sweeper tentacles at night.
Diet: Primarily photosynthetic via symbiotic zooxanthellae but benefits from occasional feeding of meaty foods such as mysis shrimp or specialised coral foods.
Additional Notes: Maintain stable water parameters typical for reef tanks: temperature 24-26°C, salinity 1.023-1.025, calcium 400-450 ppm, alkalinity 8-12 dKH, and magnesium 1250-1350 ppm.
