Caesio teres, commonly known as the Blue and Yellow Fusilier Snapper, is a visually stunning marine fish prized for its vibrant blue body accented with yellow fins. This medium-sized snapper is a peaceful species that adds dynamic movement and colour to larger reef aquariums.
Care Level: Moderate. Caesio teres requires stable water conditions and a spacious tank to thrive.
Temperament and Compatibility: Generally peaceful and schooling by nature, this species does well in groups and is compatible with other non-aggressive fish. Avoid housing with overly territorial or predatory species.
Diet: Omnivorous. Provide a varied diet including high-quality marine pellets, frozen mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and finely chopped seafood to ensure optimal health.
Minimum Tank Size: At least 250 litres (approximately 65 gallons) to accommodate their active swimming behaviour and schooling needs.
Lighting and Water Flow: Moderate lighting and moderate to strong water flow mimic their natural reef environment.
Placement: Mid to upper water column, ideally in a tank with ample open swimming space and live rock for shelter.
Origin: Indo-Pacific region.
Maximum Size: Up to 25 cm (10 inches) in length.
This species is considered reef safe with caution, as it may occasionally nip at very small or delicate invertebrates. Regular monitoring is recommended in reef setups.
