Scolopsis bilineata, commonly called the Two-lined Monocle Bream, is a visually striking snapper species known for its distinctive two-line pattern and vibrant colours. This extra large specimen is suitable for experienced marine aquarium hobbyists with ample tank space.
Temperament and Compatibility: Generally peaceful, this species coexists well with other non-aggressive fish. Avoid housing with very small or timid species as they may become stressed. It is best kept singly or in pairs unless the tank is very large.
Diet: Carnivorous by nature, Scolopsis bilineata thrives on a varied diet including meaty foods such as mysis shrimp, chopped seafood, and high-quality marine pellets or flakes formulated for carnivores.
Tank Requirements: A minimum tank size of 250 litres is recommended to accommodate its active swimming behaviour and territorial needs. Provide plenty of live rock for hiding and natural behaviour expression.
Water Parameters: Maintain stable marine conditions with temperature between 24-27°C, salinity at 1.023-1.025 SG, pH 8.1-8.4, and moderate water flow.
Reef Compatibility: With caution. While generally reef safe, they may prey on small invertebrates or fish, so careful consideration is advised when adding to reef tanks.
Origin details are not provided, but this species is typically found in Indo-Pacific regions.
