Euphyllia glabrescens, commonly known as the Torch Coral, is a popular large polyp stony (LPS) coral prized for its long, flowing tentacles tipped with vibrant colours. The NYknicks variant offers a unique and attractive colouration that adds dynamic movement and visual interest to any reef aquarium.
This small specimen is suitable for marine aquarists with some experience, as it requires moderate care and stable water conditions. Euphyllia glabrescens thrives under moderate to high lighting and moderate water flow, which helps maintain healthy polyp extension without causing tissue damage.
When placing this coral, ensure it has ample space from neighbouring corals to prevent aggressive interactions, as Euphyllia species possess sweeper tentacles that can sting nearby corals. Position it in a location where it can gently sway in the current, showcasing its beautiful tentacles.
Regular water quality monitoring and stable parameters are essential for optimal health. Feeding is generally not required if lighting and water quality are adequate, but occasional target feeding with meaty foods can promote growth.
