Euphyllia glabrescens, commonly known as the Reverse Holy Grail, is a spectacular large polyp stony (LPS) coral prized for its long, flowing tentacles and vibrant appearance. This Extra Large specimen makes a dramatic focal point in mature reef aquariums.
Lighting: Moderate to high lighting is recommended to maintain vibrant colours and healthy growth. LED, T5, or metal halide lighting systems are suitable, but avoid sudden intense light to prevent bleaching.
Water Flow: Moderate, indirect water flow is ideal. Strong direct currents can damage the delicate tentacles, while too little flow may lead to detritus accumulation.
Placement: Position this coral in a location with ample space to accommodate its extended tentacles and prevent stinging neighbouring corals. It is best placed mid to lower levels of the aquarium.
Compatibility: Reef safe with adequate spacing from other corals to avoid aggressive interactions. Euphyllia glabrescens can extend sweeper tentacles at night, so maintain a minimum of 10cm clearance from other corals.
Diet: Primarily photosynthetic via symbiotic zooxanthellae, but benefits from occasional feeding of meaty foods such as mysis shrimp or specialised coral foods to support growth.
Care Level: Moderate to advanced. Requires stable water parameters and attentive husbandry to thrive.
Water Parameters: Maintain stable reef conditions with temperature 24-27°C, salinity 1.023-1.025, pH 8.1-8.4, and low nutrient levels.
This Extra Large Reverse Holy Grail coral is a premium addition for experienced marine aquarists looking to enhance their reef display with a visually striking and dynamic LPS coral.
