The Zebrasoma desjardinii, commonly known as Desjardin’s Sailfin Tang, is a stunning and robust tang species prized for its distinctive zebra-like striping and large, sail-like dorsal fin. This XXL specimen is suitable for experienced marine aquarists with spacious tanks.
Temperament and Compatibility: Generally peaceful but territorial towards conspecifics and similar tang species. Best kept singly or in a very large aquarium with ample hiding spaces. Compatible with a wide range of other peaceful marine fish.
Diet: Primarily herbivorous; requires a diet rich in marine algae and seaweed. Supplement with high-quality marine flake, pellets, and occasional meaty foods to ensure balanced nutrition.
Tank Requirements: Minimum tank size of 180 litres (approximately 50 gallons) recommended to provide sufficient swimming space. Provide plenty of live rock for grazing and shelter.
Reef Compatibility: Reef safe with caution. May nip at certain sessile invertebrates or soft corals, so monitor closely if housed in reef systems.
Water Parameters: Maintain stable marine conditions with temperature between 24-27°C, salinity 1.020-1.025 SG, and good water quality with moderate to strong water flow.
This XXL Zebrasoma desjardinii is a striking and rewarding addition to a well-established marine aquarium, offering both beauty and active behaviour.
