The Blue Carpet Anemone (Stichodactyla spp) is a captivating and sizeable invertebrate, prized for its vibrant blue colouring and dynamic presence in marine aquariums. This extra large specimen is suitable for experienced hobbyists with established tanks, as it requires stable water parameters and careful husbandry.
Feeding: This anemone benefits from regular feeding of meaty foods such as chopped seafood, mysis shrimp, or specialised anemone pellets. Feeding 1-2 times per week supports growth and health.
Compatibility and Reef Safety: Generally reef safe with caution, as the Blue Carpet Anemone can sting nearby corals and invertebrates. It is compatible with anemonefish species, which often form symbiotic relationships. Avoid housing with aggressive or anemone-eating fish.
Care Requirements: Maintain stable water conditions with moderate to strong lighting and moderate water flow. Placement should allow the anemone to attach securely to rockwork or substrate while avoiding direct strong currents that may cause stress.
Tank Size: Due to its potential size and space requirements, a minimum tank size of 150 litres is recommended to provide adequate room for expansion and movement.
Note that exact origin and maximum size can vary within the genus Stichodactyla, so conservative husbandry practices are advised.
