Rhodactis inchoata (Grade A) is a stunning large mushroom coral prized for its distinctive texture and vibrant colours. This soft coral is a fantastic addition to reef tanks, offering unique visual interest and moderate care requirements suitable for hobbyists with some experience.
Lighting: This coral prefers moderate lighting conditions, such as T5 fluorescents or LED setups with medium PAR levels. Avoid intense direct lighting to prevent bleaching.
Water Flow: Gentle to moderate water flow is ideal to keep the coral healthy and free from detritus buildup. Strong currents can cause the coral to retract and stress.
Placement: Place Rhodactis inchoata on rockwork or substrate with enough space to expand fully. Ensure it is not too close to aggressive corals, as it can be sensitive to stinging tentacles.
Compatibility: Reef safe with adequate spacing from neighbouring corals. It coexists well with most peaceful reef inhabitants.
Care Level: Moderate. Regular water quality maintenance and stable parameters will promote optimal growth.
Additional Notes: This coral benefits from occasional feeding of small particulate foods or phytoplankton but primarily relies on photosynthesis through its symbiotic zooxanthellae.
