Pseudochromis springeri is a captivating dottyback species prized for its vivid coloration and dynamic behaviour. This small to medium-sized fish typically reaches around 6-8 cm in length, making it suitable for moderately sized marine aquariums.
Care Level: Moderate. This species requires stable water parameters and a well-established tank with plenty of hiding places.
Temperament: Territorial and semi-aggressive. Best kept singly or as a mated pair to avoid conflicts. It may show aggression towards similar-sized or brightly coloured tankmates.
Diet: Carnivorous. Feeds readily on a variety of meaty foods including frozen mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and high-quality pellet or flake foods formulated for carnivorous marine fish.
Minimum Tank Size: 75 litres (20 gallons) recommended to provide ample swimming space and territory.
Compatibility: Suitable for reef tanks with caution. It generally coexists well with larger peaceful fish but may harass smaller or more docile species. Avoid housing with other dottybacks or similarly territorial fish.
Origin: Indo-Pacific region.
Lighting and Water Flow: Standard reef aquarium lighting and moderate water flow are appropriate.
Placement: Provide plenty of live rock and crevices for shelter and territory establishment.
With proper care, Pseudochromis springeri adds vibrant colour and lively behaviour to your marine aquarium.
