Paracheilinus cyaneus is a stunning wrasse species prized for its vivid blue hues and dynamic swimming patterns. This peaceful fish is well-suited to mature marine aquariums where it can thrive with appropriate care.
Temperament and Compatibility: Generally peaceful, Paracheilinus cyaneus coexists well with other non-aggressive tank mates. Avoid housing with overly territorial species to reduce stress.
Diet: Carnivorous by nature, this wrasse thrives on a varied diet including high-quality frozen or live foods such as brine shrimp, mysis shrimp, and finely chopped seafood. Regular feeding 2-3 times daily is recommended.
Tank Requirements: A minimum tank size of 75 litres (approximately 20 gallons) is advised to provide ample swimming space and territory. The aquarium should be well-established with plenty of live rock for hiding and foraging.
Water Parameters: Maintain stable marine conditions with temperature between 24-27°C, salinity at 1.023-1.025 SG, pH 8.1-8.4, and moderate water flow.
Reef Compatibility: Paracheilinus cyaneus is considered reef safe with caution, as it may occasionally nip at small invertebrates or sessile animals. Monitor behaviour closely in reef setups.
Additional Notes: This species is available in various sizes to suit different aquarium setups. Quarantine new arrivals to prevent disease introduction.
