Pachyseris rugosa is a striking large polyp stony (LPS) coral known for its textured, rugged surface and vibrant colours. This cultured frag is grown under controlled conditions, ensuring a healthy and acclimatised specimen suitable for marine reef aquariums.
Lighting Requirements: Moderate lighting is ideal for Pachyseris rugosa. It thrives under LED or T5 lighting systems that provide balanced PAR levels without intense direct exposure.
Water Flow: Moderate water flow is recommended to keep the coral clean and promote gas exchange without causing tissue damage. Avoid strong, direct currents.
Placement: Position the frag in a stable location with enough space to prevent contact with neighbouring corals, as Pachyseris rugosa can extend sweeper tentacles. Mid to lower areas of the tank are generally suitable.
Care Level: This coral is considered moderate in care, suitable for aquarists with some experience in LPS coral husbandry.
Compatibility: Reef safe with adequate spacing from other corals to avoid aggression. Compatible with a wide range of reef-safe fish and invertebrates.
Feeding: While Pachyseris rugosa can derive nutrition from photosynthesis via its symbiotic zooxanthellae, supplemental feeding with planktonic foods or specialised coral feeds can enhance growth and colouration.
Additional Notes: Regular water parameter monitoring is essential to maintain stable conditions, particularly calcium, alkalinity, and magnesium levels, to support skeletal growth.
