Macropharyngodon vivienae is a striking wrasse species prized for its vibrant colours and intricate patterns. Native to the Indo-Pacific region, this fish is a captivating addition to mature marine aquariums.
They thrive best in tanks of at least 120 litres (30 gallons) with plenty of live rock to provide hiding places and foraging opportunities. This species is generally peaceful but can be shy, so a well-structured environment helps reduce stress.
Diet should consist of a varied selection of meaty foods such as mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and specialised marine pellets to ensure optimal health. Feeding multiple times daily in small amounts is recommended.
Compatibility is generally good with other peaceful fish, but avoid aggressive tank mates or other wrasses with similar body shapes to reduce territorial disputes.
Regular water changes and stable water parameters are essential to maintain their health. Ideal water conditions include a temperature of 24-27°C, salinity of 1.023-1.025, and pH between 8.1 and 8.4.
