Labroides bicolor, known as the Bicolor Cleaner Wrasse, is a popular marine fish prized for its vibrant colours and unique cleaning behaviour. This medium-sized specimen is an excellent choice for established reef aquariums where it can provide natural parasite control by cleaning other fish.

Temperament: Peaceful and social, the Bicolor Cleaner Wrasse is generally compatible with a wide range of tank mates. It is best kept singly or in pairs to avoid territorial disputes.
Diet: Primarily feeds on ectoparasites and dead tissue from other fish. Supplement with high-quality frozen or live foods such as brine shrimp, mysis shrimp, and specialised cleaner fish diets to ensure nutritional balance.
Minimum Tank Size: A minimum of 75 litres (20 gallons) is recommended to provide sufficient swimming space and maintain water quality.
Reef Compatibility: Yes. Labroides bicolor is reef safe and will not harm corals or invertebrates.
Lighting and Water Flow: Standard reef aquarium lighting and moderate water flow are suitable for this species.
Placement: Provide plenty of live rock for shelter and cleaning stations. This species thrives in tanks with diverse fish populations to interact with.
Origin: Indo-Pacific region.
Maximum Size: Up to 10 cm (4 inches).
Due to their specialised diet and behaviour, Labroides bicolor can be challenging to acclimate. It is recommended for hobbyists with some marine aquarium experience. Regular monitoring and a varied diet will help maintain their health and longevity.
