Hologymnosus annulatus, commonly known as the Ringed Wrasse, is a strikingly colourful marine fish prized for its vibrant patterns and active swimming behaviour. This small variant is ideal for aquarists with some experience in maintaining marine wrasses.
Care Level: Moderate to advanced care is recommended due to their active nature and specific dietary needs.
Temperament: Generally peaceful but can be territorial towards other wrasses or similar-shaped fish. Best kept singly or in a large tank with ample space.
Diet: Carnivorous – feeds on a variety of meaty foods such as mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and finely chopped seafood. Regular feeding of high-quality frozen or live foods is essential.
Tank Requirements: A minimum tank size of 120 litres (approximately 30 gallons) is advised to provide sufficient swimming space. The aquarium should be well-established with plenty of live rock for hiding and foraging.
Compatibility: Compatible with other peaceful fish species but avoid housing with very small or timid fish that may be outcompeted for food.
Reef Safety: With Caution – may nip at small invertebrates or sessile invertebrates; not recommended for delicate reef systems.
Lighting and Water Flow: Standard marine aquarium lighting and moderate water flow are suitable.
Origin: Not Provided.
Maximum Size: Approximately 15 cm (6 inches).
